      Tag Monarch Butterflies

Migrating monarch butterflies are only here for a limited time as they pass through on their way to ancestral roosts in Michoacán, Mexico.

Learn about the monarch’s fascinating life cycle, habitat, and migration as you participate in our citizen-scientist program by helping to place a tiny identification tag on a wing of each Monarch butterfly we catch. This hands-on science activity contributes to the gathering of information about how climate trends and human encroachment affect monarch butterfly migration patterns, overwintering sites, and populations.

Please wear sturdy shoes and long pants. You’ll also want to bring your camera!
