      Audience:   This course is designed for public sector emergency services personnel (Fire & Law Enforcement), private sector hazardous materials response team officers and environmental engineering and hazardous waste site clean-up professionals.  This course meets the basic requirements as outlined in OSHA regulations 29 CFR 1910.120, 29 CFR 1926.65, USEPA 40 CFR Part 311 and NFPA Standard 472.   ContactHours: 40             Credit Hours: 3   CourseDescription & Outcome:   This course provide the basic knowledge, skills and aptitude for individuals who are responsible for facility spill response operations or site environmental  cleanup of hazardous substances After the completion of this course, the student will possess the basic core competencies of managing and responding to  a  hazardous substance(s) (materials and hazardous waste) incident or site clean-up.  The student will possess the skill sets for  site ( or scene)  risk assessment, develop and implement an incident response plan for containment & cleanup response operations and operate within an Incident Command System - ICS (FEMA NIMS based) team functions and function as the Incident Commander /Safety Officer or within a Site Environmental Health & Safety Plan. The student will possess the basic skills to recognize and implement event (scene); personal health and safety procedures, employment and operation of air monitoring equipment, hazardous materials sampling,  and multi stage DECON operations, spill control equipment and containment strategies.   CourseObjectives:   Knowledge of the basic hazard and risk assessment techniques Know the classification, identification and verification of known & unknown materials by field survey (e.g. Air Monitors) Know how to select and use proper personal protective equipment provided to the first responder operational level An understanding of basic hazardous materials(chemical & toxicological) terms Know how to perform basic control, containment, and/or confinement operations within the capabilities of the resources and personal protective equipment available with their unit Know how to implement basic decontamination procedures An understanding of the relevant standard operating procedures and termination procedures Know Site Work Practices and safe use of site engineering controls Know and be able to implement the employer's incident command system Know how to implement the employer's emergency response plan Know and understand the hazards and risks associated with employees working in chemical protective clothing Know how to implement the site Emergency Response Plan(s) or Health & Safety Plan An understanding of the Medical Surveillance program Know of the state emergency response plan and of the Federal Regional Response Team   CourseFeatures:   This hands-on course prepares an individual to function as a HAZWOPER Specialist, On Scene Incident Commander or an Environmental General Site Worker.  Contentis writtentomeetspecificcurriculum  as listed in 29 CFR 1910.120- HAZWOPER) and course outcomes and every piece of content is mapped to specific objectives Resources included detailed Student Course Book, HAZMAT technical reference materials (NIOSH & USDOT), Student Demonstrated Competencies Skill Sheets All content has beendeveloped and created by industry leading subject matter experts and instructional designers Cost:  $699
