Artist/Naturalist Presentation: Saving Jemima: Life and Love with a Hard-Luck Jay

Artist, naturalist, and author Julie Zickefoose will present “Saving Jemima: Life and Love with a Hard-luck Jay”, based on her book, on Thursday, February 27th at 7 PM at Mount St. Joseph University’s Theatre. “Saving Jemima” is the story of a young, sick, orphaned blue jay that Zickefoose cared for in her home and later released back into the wild. The Library Journal called the book “A heartwarming account for all interested in natural history, especially birds, animal behavior, and wildlife rehabilitation.” The presentation is free to the public, but donations will be happily accepted. Doors open at 6:30 PM and parking is free.
This event is presented by a collaboration of area non-profits that have a focus on the natural world and care for the environment, including the Sisters of Charity, EarthConnection, the Audubon Society of Ohio, Western Wildlife Corridor, the Mill Creek Alliance, Fernald Nature Preserve, the Sustainability Committee of Mount St. Joseph University, and Oxbow, Inc. and with generous support from Wild Birds Unlimited (6781 Harrison Ave.) and Mount St. Joseph University Professor Meg Riestenberg. The organizations will have information tables in the Theatre Lobby before and after the presentation for attendees to learn more about what each organization does. Ms. Zickefoose will also be selling copies of her book and art after the presentation.
If you have questions, please call event coordinator Colleen McSwiggin at 513-244-4864.

Cost: Free - Donations happily accepted.
