      Music on the River

      Searching for fun, free entertainment this summer? Music on the River, a free weekly concert series held on the streets of downtown Lawrenceburg, returns to Southeast Indiana this week with a full schedule of musical performances planned throughout the summer.



      Sponsored by the Lawrenceburg Main Street Association, the concerts feature musicians performing in a wide variety of genres ranging from rock ‘n roll and country to big band, jazz and rhythm and blues.



      The concerts will take place from 7-9pm on the corner of High and Walnut streets in the city’s historic district. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, and food and drink will be available for purchase. The weekly events will also feature a car show by the Indiana Gassers.



      Starting this week, the 2011 Music on the River lineup includes:


      June 23: Keith Swinney (Classic, Modern Country and Rock)

      June 30: Mike “Elvis” Davis (Elvis Impersonator)

      July 7: Blue Stone Ivory (Music of the ‘60s and ‘70s)

      July 14: Scotty Anderson (Nationally-known Guitarist)

      July 21: Parrots of the Caribbean (Jimmy Buffet-style Music)

      July 28: Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra (Swing Music from the Big Band Era)

      August 4: Channel Kats (Rock & Roll)

      August 11: Local artists Jimmy Thomas and the band W.S. Young

      (Blues/Rock from Two Generations)

      August 18: After Midnight (Music of the ‘70s)

      August 25: Ridge Runner (New Energetic Country)

      September 1: Cincinnati Metropolitan Orchestra

      (50-piece orchestra with vocalists, featuring popular and patriotic music)

      September 8: Pure Grain (Southern Rock)
      September 15: Clyde Brown Band (Mayor’s Concert featuring Funk, Jazz and R&B)
